Something not expanding?

ReplyAgain has no account and no server, so almost every question is about one of two things: a macOS permission, or the folder both devices share.

On the Mac

ReplyAgain sits in the menu bar. Its icon shows the live state: Active means the full event tap is running, Compatibility means the slower path, and Needs permissions means one is missing.

After a reinstall or an update, macOS can keep the box ticked while the app is no longer trusted. Toggle ReplyAgain off and on, then quit and reopen it. To test, type ;shrug in TextEdit or Notes.

The shared folder

Pick the same folder on each device — normally iCloud Drive › ReplyAgain. On the Mac it is Settings › Storage; on the iPhone it is the folder button in the app.

If Settings says macOS no longer has access to the folder, choose it again: the grant is tied to that folder and a move, a rename or a reinstall breaks it. Dropbox and Google Drive work the same way, provided their desktop app is installed and signed in.

On the iPhone

iOS does not let any app watch your typing or read the clipboard in the background. That is a platform rule: on the phone ReplyAgain is a picker keyboard, not a trigger expander.

Clips and attachments

Your clipboard history stays on the device that made it. Pin a clip to carry it to your other devices; unpinned clips are kept to a limit you set in Settings › Clipboard. Attachments travel with the snippet as a file beside its JSON.
